London School of Economics and Political Science

London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is a public research university in London, England, and a constituent institution of the University of London. Founded in 1895 by members of the Fabian Society, including Sidney Webb, Beatrice Webb, Graham Wallas, and George Bernard Shaw, the institution specializes in the social sciences, with teaching and research spanning economics, politics, law, sociology, international relations, finance, accounting, and public policy.

LSE joined the University of London in 1900 and awarded its first degrees under the university in 1902. Since 2008, it has had the authority to award degrees in its own name. The university is located in the Westminster area of central London, near Covent Garden and the Strand.

The university is recognized internationally for its research and academic programs in the social sciences. It has produced numerous alumni and faculty members who have served as heads of state, government officials, economists, business leaders, and Nobel Prize laureates. LSE is also a member of several international academic and research networks and maintains partnerships with universities and institutions around the world.
