Andrew James Sackl, known as James Sackl, is an Australian entrepreneur, founder and writer based in Melbourne, Victoria. He is the founder of Wallace Biotechnologies and Terraform Technologies, and publishes writing, podcasts and videos under the Golden Age banner.[1]

Sackl began his business career in 2007 when, aged 21, he founded Young Media, a classified advertising business targeting younger consumers and local businesses. He subsequently became involved in property, recruitment, migration services, restaurants and other businesses before moving into technology and biotechnology ventures.[1]

Early life and Young Media

Sackl was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. He worked various jobs and began his first business shortly after finishing school.[1]

In 2007, at the age of 21, Sackl founded Young Media. He initially marketed advertising space to local businesses before the website had been built, using advance advertising sales to finance its development. He subsequently expanded the business to other Australian cities and sold it.[1]

Business career

Following the sale of Young Media, Sackl states that he invested in property and housing developments and expanded into recruitment and migration services. His biography also records involvement in restaurants and other businesses.[1]

Between October 2013 and December 2018, Sackl was a director of five companies: Dash Technologies Pty Ltd, Ad Astra Institute Pty Ltd, Karma3 Upcycling Pty Ltd, Sino Resources Group (Aust) Pty Ltd and Universal Personnel Pty Ltd.

ASIC stated that the five companies operated in software development, vocational education, animal-feed production, migration services and employment services respectively.

Agriculture

Sackl was involved in cattle production through Blue Lake Station in South Australia with Michael Famularo. In 2017, Blue Lake Station received the South Australian Most Outstanding Beef Producer award at the Meat Standards Australia Excellence in Eating Quality Awards.[2]

The award was part of the Meat Standards Australia Excellence in Eating Quality Awards, which recognised producers and businesses associated with meat eating quality and the MSA program.

COVID-19 testing business

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sackl became involved in the development and distribution of diagnostic testing products. According to his own account, his business initially secured distribution rights for an antibody test kit and later developed an all-in-one testing pen intended for SARS-CoV-2 testing.[1]

Sackl states that the product was redesigned as a pen-shaped testing device containing testing components and buffer fluid in an integrated format. He further states that the business entered into a supply agreement in 2021 and recorded approximately A$130 million in sales during 2021 and 2022.[1]

Because these sales figures are reported on Sackl's own website, they should be treated as attributed claims rather than independently established financial figures.
