Barack Hussein Obama II (born August 4, 1961) is an American politician, lawyer, and author who served as the 44th president of the United States from 2009 to 2017. He is a member of the Template:Entity link and was the first African American to hold the presidency.

Early life and education

Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. He studied at Columbia University and later attended Harvard Law School, where he became the first Black president of the Harvard Law Review.

Early career

Before entering politics, Obama worked as a civil rights lawyer and taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School. He also worked as a community organizer in Chicago.

Political career

U.S. Senate

Obama served in the Illinois State Senate before being elected to the United States Senate in 2004. His keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention brought him national recognition.

Presidency (2009–2017)
