Shirazi was born in 1986 in Stanford, California to Iranian-American parents and grew up in Atherton, California. He is the only child of Sharam and Susanne Pari Shirazi. At the age of 15, Shirazi interned at eBay as a software test engineer working on various features. In 2005, he joined Facebook as the company&amp;#039;s first intern and reported to Mark Zuckerberg. After three years delaying matriculation to the University of California, Berkeley to work at Facebook, Shirazi left Facebook and spent two years months studying Philosophy and Computer Science at Berkeley. In 2010 he dropped out of school to pursue a career in startups. He first advised the founding team at Udemy and became one of the first investors in the company.
